We are constantly in awe of the amount of young long island men and women that wake up early on Saturday mornings to give their time and talent to help make a difference in the lives of others. There are many things and events that these young people can do with their time on weekends but they decide to come to Faith Mission Soup Kitchen in Hempstead Long Island. The day begins with setting up by carrying boxes, kitchen supplies, tables and chairs into position for the days events. These volunteers then distribute clothing, breakfast, lunch, shower supplies and most importantly their energy and human interaction to our clients. Then they help to break everything down and pack it away till next week. All this is done with an attitude of service to others. If you truly want to see the spirit of service and caring for others join us one weekend and see these amazing young people in action

Today we were very fortunate to have the helping hands of Girl Scout Troop 4335-Moxy Rigby Center from Freeport, NY. These girls, along with their leaders and adult helpers, came eager and ready to help. Always enthusiastically jumping into any task , they were a vital part to serving our clients. Whether it was preparing shower kits, sorting clothes, handing out food items or serving our clients lunch , this group was ready for the challenge. They even had coordinating outfits! Well done girls- Much thanks to these fantastic little ladies, adult helpers and their wonderful leaders Camella Warren- Weiss and Juakina Martin !
